Sailing Season: The sailing season stretches from April to November while Malta is recognised as a suitable place for wintering one's boat on the hard and    performing maintenance and repair work during the mild winter months.
 
   
Berthing Facilities: Malta over 1000 berths. 
Another 600 expected in the next two years.

Formalities:

Yachts approaching Malta are to contact Valletta Port Control on VHF Channel 12 when the vessel is not less than 12 nautical miles from shore.  On entering the harbour from foreign ports the Q flag should be hoisted. This indicates to customs authorities that the boat needs clearance. The yacht's registration book together with passports of all crew members and passengers must be presented to Customs Officials.

 
 
   
Malta Flag Registration of yachts under the Malta flag  offers the following advantages:
Registrations:  
    Low company formation and registration costs
    No restrictions on nationality of the owner
  Complete tax exemption
  No restriction on the nationality of the master, officers and crew
  No restrictions or taxation on the sale or transfer of shares of the company owning  
    Maltese registered boats
  No restrictions or taxation on the sale and mortgaging of Maltese registered yachts
     
Any vessel can be registered under the Maltese Flag provided it is owned by a Maltese registered company. The formation of a Maltese company is a straight forward operation and can be taken care of in a very short period through a local firm.
       
  Since the yacht will be owned by a Maltese registered company the vessel will be tax exempt in the EU and VAT is not  payable ( or can b reclaimed ) provided the vessel  is not in EU waters for more than six months in any twelve month period.
       
Time:

One hour ahead of G.M.T. Summer time commences on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October.

   
Duty Free:

Yachts clearing out of Malta can take duty free supplies. Duty free bunkering for yachts in transit is available at very competitive prices.

A full range of long or short term accommodation facilities are available to suit everyones' budget.
